SMC composite material, short for Sheet Molding Compound, is formulated from core components such as GF (special yarn), UP (unsaturated resin), low shrinkage additives, MD (filler), and various other additives. Originating in Europe during the early 1960s, this innovative process expanded to the US and Japan by around 1965. China's adoption began in the late '80s, introducing advanced foreign SMC production lines and techniques. Renowned for their superb electrical insulation, mechanical robustness, thermal stability, and chemical resistance, SMC composites are prevalent across diverse applications. Currently, a trend is emerging where SMC composites are supplanting BMC materials.
