SMC composite material, known as Sheet Molding Compound, is primarily composed of GF (special yarn), UP (unsaturated resin), low shrinkage additives, MD (filler), and a variety of additives. This innovative material was first developed in Europe in the early 1960s and saw advancements in the U.S. and Japan by 1965. China adopted advanced foreign SMC production lines in the late 1980s. SMC composites and their molded products are renowned for their exceptional electrical insulation, mechanical strength, thermal stability, and resistance to chemical corrosion, making them widely applicable. The trend is shifting towards SMC composites gradually replacing BMC materials due to their superior performance.
