SMC composite material, short for Sheet Molding Compound, is composed of a unique blend of GF (special yarn), UP (unsaturated resin), low shrinkage additives, MD (filler), and various enhancing additives. Initially developed in Europe during the early 1960s, this innovative process soon spread to the United States and Japan by 1965.
