SMC composite material, short for Sheet Molding Compound, consists of GF (special yarn), UP (unsaturated resin), low shrinkage additives, MD (filler), and various other additives. Originating in Europe in the early 1960s, this technology was further advanced by the United States and Japan by 1965.
