SMC composite material, standing for Sheet Molding Compound, is primarily made of GF (special yarn), UP (unsaturated resin), low shrink additives, MD (filler), and various other additives. Originating in Europe in the early 1960s, the process expanded to the US and Japan around 1965. China adopted advanced foreign SMC production lines and processes in the late 1980s. SMC composites and their molded products boast outstanding electrical insulation, mechanical strength, thermal stability, and resistance to chemical corrosion. Consequently, SMC products find widespread application, with current trends indicating a shift from BMC to SMC materials.
